Should I Trust God?

This year an attack came against my loved one. Disease and illness has captured the one I held dear.

Then the enemy fired at me without ceasing day after day.

Mistrust

Some said to me, Do not let God deceive you anymore. He did not deliver your loved one. Do not let the Lord persuade you to trust in Him when he says, “I will deliver you.”

The enemy of my soul says Do not listen to God. The evil one promises me my heart’s desires if I will follow him.

The deceiver threatened me until I was in great distress, feeling disgraced and too weak to stand.

So what am I to do when I’m afraid of the things I hear? When people speak against God?

A letter arrived in the mail that terrified me causing an unsettled feeling in my inner being. Then the Holy Spirit reminded me of Hezekiah’s prayer.

Trust in God

So, I spread the letter out before the Lord and prayed to the one true God.

“O LORD Almighty, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Give ear, O LORD, and hear; open your eyes, O LORD, and see; listen to all the words…

Isaiah 37: 16 – 17 NIV

When my soul was anguished, I turned to the Lord to save me from my fears.

The Holy Spirit reminded me of David when he fled from his son Absalom. So, I opened Psalm 3 and read aloud David’s psalm on Bible Hub.

Then I wrote my own.

O LORD, how many are my troubles!

How many rise up more and more each day!

The deceiver may say to me, “God will not deliver you.”

But I know Lord, you are a shield around me.

You lift up my head when I cry.

You answer me from your holy hill.

You are with me through the night.

When I open my eyes, you are still with me.

You are ready to sustain me throughout the long day.

I won’t fear the tens of thousands worries that pile up on every side.

Arise, O LORD!

Deliver me, O my God!

Strike all my worries, break the hold of anxiety.

I know that from you Lord comes deliverance.

You are a Blessing to Me!

My Prayer For You

Heavenly Father, we praise you for being our shield and thank you for lifting our heads. We ask that you remove each worry as it appears to us. Forgive us Lord when we dwell too long on our anxieties instead of trusting you. May we rest today knowing that you are with us. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Will You Allow the Lord to be your Shield today?

I pray that you will spread out before the Lord whatever it may be that is causing you grief and anguish today. Allow the Lord to be your shield, may He be your glory and the lifter of your head today.
