The Lord is Good: His Love Endures Forever

Have you ever turned the key to your dream home and felt joy swell within as you carried the first boxes across the threshold? And you can’t wait to gather extended family close to share your joy?

On those days it is easy to sing and praise the Lord.

But what about the days when you have to say good-bye to a home filled with loving memories? On those days your throat may be tight as you try to sing.

But regardless of whether you are building, saying good-bye to a home, or rebuilding… this truth remains.

This past month I read 2 Chronicles which tells the history of the nation of Judah. God’s powerful presence can be seen in the lives of the kings who believe the word of the Lord and obey his laws.

This is evident in Solomon’s life as he asked the Lord for wisdom and knowledge to govern the Lord’s people. The Lord not only gave him what he desired but also gave him more wealth, riches and honor.

With the Lord’s guidance Solomon built a temple for the Lord. And the trumpeters and singers with one voice gave praise and thanks to the Lord.

“He is good; his love endures forever.”

2 Chronicles 5:13

When Solomon’s temple was first built the people declared that God is the creator of heaven and earth. They promised to keep his covenant of love and serve wholeheartedly.

And the Lord promised:

“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek the Lord’s face, and turn from wickedness, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive, and heal their land.”

2 Chronicles 7:14

As long as the men of Judah relied on the Lord the God of their fathers and did what was right in the Lord’s eyes, then they were victorious.

When calamity came, the people stood in God’s presence and cried out to him in their distress. The Lord heard and saved them.

This is what the Lord says to his people. Do not be afraid or discouraged…For the battle is not yours, but God’s.

You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your position, stand firm, and see the deliverance the Lord will give you.

Do not be afraid or discouraged. But go out to face them tomorrow and the Lord will be with you.

The people sang to the Lord and praised him for the splendor of his holiness.

“Give thanks to the Lord for his love endures forever.”

2 Chronicles 20:21

No matter what is happening in your life, the Lord loves you. He sent his son, Jesus, to this earth. Jesus lived a perfect life and willingly allowed himself to be arrested, beaten, and crucified on a cross.

Why would he do this if he didn’t love us?

Although Jesus had never sinned. He suffered so that we would not have to face the punishment of our own sin which is death. He died as a substitution for all who believe in Him.

To the world, all seemed lost when he breathed his last and was placed in the tomb. Sometimes all seems lost in our lives too.

But the Lord was only three days away from an amazing miracle.

God can bring dead things back to life. So whatever you feel is dead within you. The Lord can give new life.

He can bring new life to marriages, broken family relationships, and even those who die.

We know this is true because three days later, it pleased God to resurrect Jesus Christ. For all to know that Jesus is the Son of God.

For us to know that forgiveness of our sins is available if we believe in Jesus.

There is hope where we see none. Even the grave is not hopeless.

Because Jesus is our hope and offers eternal life to those who believe in Him.

There is always hope for those who call on the name of Jesus.

So when the Lord calls you to a new place, it is easier to say good-bye to your beloved home. Because Jesus has good plans for our life.
