Our King preserved the song of Moses and Miriam when they sang praises. The Lord’s great power created a wall of water on their right and left. They trekked through the sea on dry ground like a Sea World aquarium exhibit.
In response to this miraculous event Moses and Miriam sang praises together: “Sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted, the horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea” (Exodus 15:21).
When God works mightily in our lives, sing and exalt him with your own song. In the same way a father treasures his children’s songs, he listens as you sing or squeak out in a musical lilt. What would you place in the blanks? “Thank you Lord! I highly exalt you, all my __________ and ____________ you have hurled away from me.”
Thank you Lord! I highly exalt you, all my sin and punishment you have hurled away from me.
Deborah and Barak also sang together to the LORD. Deborah served as a judge for Israel. The Lord spoke to her and she relayed God’s commands to Barak. He led 10,000 men to Mount Tabor (Judges 4:6).
Because the LORD lured the enemy commander into their hand, when the battle ended Deborah and Barak sang to the LORD. They praised His Holy Name because their people were willingly giving themselves to the Lord (Judges 5:3).
The King of all Kings created the hearts of his sons and daughters to live a life of love with him as the most significant relationship. Your voice calling his name in the early morning delights him.
When we pray to the one true God, our spirit fills with his love, peace, and mercy. Reading the bible and singing worship songs renew our minds and lifts our spirit.
According to Paxton Hood’s sermon titled “The Jealous God,” Jealously is love on fire. When we place our pursuit for love, power, and knowledge above God’s place in our inner being, we provoke his jealousy.
We may consider jealousy as a vise, but Paxton Hood describes it as heavenly zeal of love. God loves us and desires to protect us from anything or anyone that rivals our affection and devotion to him.
Paxton Hood explained God’s burning zeal carefully guards his glory. Placing any person, work, or hobby above God dishonors him. Idols in our hearts may resemble shopping bags stuffed with the latest fads, selfish ambitions, or “people pleasing” activities.
When images and idols of our heart distract us from our Heavenly Father, our lives teeter off balance. The world’s ideas of love bring shame, guilt, hopelessness, and unworthiness. But Jesus can heal any secret hid in your innermost being.
In the sermon, “God is a Spirit,” by James Owen; people search for God everywhere all through the ages. We see the diamond sparkle of the sun’s rays on the lake, the reddish glow of a moon, and millions of stars speckling the night sky.
Without realizing it we may choose an image of sun, stars, or moon to symbolize God. Instead of appreciating God who created the heavens, our wonder may tempt us to focus more on nature itself. Enticing images surround us, but pure love radiates from heaven.
Trust Jesus Christ to demolish any strongholds against him in your heart. He knows all your secrets, but He still pursues you.
The King of Kings is the Author of Love. He created perfect love. His love for you spurred him to willingly give his life to save us from punishment. But on the third day, he rose to life and now lives in heaven.
As children of God we were created to adore him. But at different seasons in our lives, we may be tempted to adore celebrities, vacations, or sport’s teams. We need to devote our attention towards the one who is truly worthy of our honor, Our King.
Whether you are a brother or sister; a working mom or a leader; you are called right this minute to adore your Heavenly Father and God, the Son Jesus Christ.
Whether you croon a song, voice your praise for His Holy Name, or write a private prayer, you are being called to adore our King of Kings.
Our King eagerly awaits for your adoration…and only you can willingly surrender your heart to him.
Prayer of Praise:
Heavenly Father, demolish all strong holds in our hearts.
Remove the walls that separate us from drawing near to your presence.
Reveal any false beliefs that misled us.
Our hearts cry out to you Lord (Lamentations 2:18).
We life up our hands to you for the lives of our children (Lamentations 2:19).
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassion never fails (Lamentations 3:22).
They are new every morning; great is His faithfulness (Lamentations 3:23).
The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him (Lamentations 3:25).
For men are not cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, great is his unfailing love. For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to the children of men (Lamentation 3:31).
Today we dedicate our heart for the glory of God.
